Smith Industries maintains state-of-the-art in-house blasting and coating operations to facilitate expert material surface preparation and the highest quality application of protective interior linings, exterior coatings, and painting.

By utilizing our own in-house blast and coating operations rather than relying on third parties, we’re able to lower your project costs—and shorten project schedules—eliminating the added freight time and expense associated with moving product to-and-from third-party locations prior to Jobsite delivery. Our 100% environment-controlled heated paint booths and 3 paint/coating shops consist of a total of 15,600 sq. feet of unparalleled quality.

Some of the other attributes of our painting, coating, and blasting capabilities include:
  • 3 Abrasive blasting shops with recovery blast media systems, air flush systems, and dust collectors built-in
  • (8) man lifts built-in onto the sidewalls inside paint and blast booths for greater reach and proper application of all areas
  • 10,000 CFM worth of air compressors distributed through all blast and coating/paint booths with their respective air dryer equipment
  • (10) blast hoses that can operate simultaneously
  • Portable equipment and disposable media available for specialty surfaces and used contaminated equipment
  • We use carbon steel shot and grit
  • Surface preparation from NACE No. 1/SSPC-SP5 to NACE No. 8/SSPC-SP 14
OUR APPLICATION EQUIPMENT HIGHLIGHTS:
  • (3) Plural component sprayers with built-in heaters and heated spray lines to spray 100% solid-liquid specialty coatings/linings (GRACO XP50 HF and XP70)
  • Single component airless sprayers (Graco King 70)
  • Conventional air-assisted sprayers (BINKS)
  • High and low voltage holiday detection
  • 100% two-part liquid epoxies, silicone high heat, inorganic zinc, urethanes, water-based, and more product lines
